John joined Chaucer in 2002 having previously underwritten in both the company and Lloyd’s markets. He has specialised in liability business as a lead underwriter encompassing all methods of acceptance and territories. Since 2004 he has headed the Specialist Lines Division of Chaucer and from 2009 in addition he has been responsible for the overall strategy for Property.

Andrew joined Chaucer Syndicates Limited in January 2008 following a 30 year career in the broking sector. He started with the Sedgwick group in the Marine Division and subsequently spent 6 years in the United States with their subsidiary Southern Marine & Aviation Underwriters. In 1995 Andrew moved to Marsh and ultimately assumed responsibility for their Marine and Energy practice in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. Andrew is the current Chairman of the LMA Marine Committee.

Brian joined Chaucer in 2002 and has over 33 years of experience in the financial institutions and professional indemnity markets. In his previous underwriting role he was, for 15 years, a recognised class leader with the then largest syndicate at Lloyd's. He has also held key positions at two leading broking houses, developing business with financial services clients worldwide. He continues to be involved in the development of many industry standard wordings.

Ed Lines has been writing international property facultative business for over 20 years. Following a brief spell in Brussels, Ed joined the GAN in London where he led their Facultative Property Division. He joined Chaucer in 1997. Ed is a member of the LMA International Property Business Panel and the European Business Development Panel.
Chris Wood

Chris joined Chaucer as the Aviation Underwriter in October 1998. Chris has experience of writing all classes of aviation business. He joined Sturge Aviation in 1973, began underwriting in 1977 and became a Director in 1979. Chris became Deputy Underwriter of Syndicate 925 in 1984.
Chris White

Chris White is responsible for writing the energy account. Chris previously worked at St. Katherine Insurance Company where, from 1982 to 1987, he was an Underwriting and Claims Assistant in the Marine & Aviation Division. Subsequently Chris moved to Syndicate 185 as an Assistant Underwriter. In 1990, Chris joined Syndicate 401, managed by Cuthbert Heath, before transferring to Chaucer Syndicates in 1992. Chris became Deputy Energy Underwriter in 1995 and Energy Class Underwriter in 2002.

Kim Barber has worked in the motor insurance market since 1970. He has held senior underwriting positions in both Commercial Fleet and Personal Lines motor business – the last 15 years within Lloyd’s. He was appointed Head of Motor Division and a Director to the Board of Chaucer Syndicates Limited in April 2006, having previously held the position of Motor Fleet Director. He is Chairman of the Lloyd’s Market Association Motor Underwriting Committee and a member of the Motor Insurers’ Bureau Board.

Christian Daniele joined Chaucer in May 2002. He graduated with a political science degree from Rome Sapienza University in 1992 and began working within reinsurance for Unione Italiana, both in Rome and Munich. In 1997, he joined Vesta Fire Corporation in Copenhagen. From 1999 until May 2002, he was Facultative Underwriter at Copenhagen Re. He was appointed Managing Director of Chaucer Underwriting A/S in July 2004.

Christopher Wildee joined the Agnew Syndicate in 1995 from university as a trainee. By the time the Wellington Syndicate was formed in 2000, he had become an Energy Underwriter, eventually becoming the Divisional Underwriter. In 2006, he joined Chaucer to open the Singapore office. His remit here as Chief Executive Officer is to successfully establish an underwriting operation across all lines of business focusing on Asia Pacific.
Michael Dawson

Michael Dawson began his career at Lloyd's with Non Marine Syndicate 584 in 1979 as an Assistant to the Underwriter. In 1986, he joined Cox Insurance and became Deputy Underwriter of the then new Non-marine Syndicate 1027. In 1991, Michael formed and became the Active Underwriter of specialist Nuclear Syndicate 1176. Michael is a Director of Pool Reinsurance (Nuclear) Limited and is Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee of the British Insurance Atomic Energy Committee. He served on the Council of Lloyd’s from 1998 to 2001 and on the Lloyd's Market Board from 1998 to 2002.
Martin Francis

Martin Francis began his claims career with Aegon Insurance Company in the London market in 1976. After joining Chaucer in 1987, Martin became Non-marine Claims Manager in 1990. In 2005, Martin joined the Underwriting Board of Chaucer Syndicates as Divisional Director for Non-marine Claims. Since 2003, Martin has served on the LMA Non-marine Claims Committee.
Tony Gates

Tony Gates joined the Lloyd’s market in 1979, initially as an underwriting assistant with marine Syndicate 697 then as a Claims Manager in 1988. Tony joined Tyser Marine Syndicate 17 in 1990, which closed into Chaucer Syndicate 1084 in 1993. He has extensive experience in all Marine classes and in particular the Energy Offshore Sector. In 2005, Tony joined the Underwriting Board of Chaucer Syndicates Limited as Divisional Director for Marine and Aviation Claims. Tony is a member of the Joint Marine Claims Committee and is the claims representative on the Joint Rig and Associated Business Committee.
