Tony Gates joined the Lloyd’s market in 1979, initially as an underwriting assistant with marine Syndicate 697 then as a Claims Manager in 1988. Tony joined Tyser Marine Syndicate 17 in 1990, which closed into Chaucer Syndicate 1084 in 1993. He has extensive experience in all Marine classes and in particular the Energy Offshore Sector. In 2005, Tony joined the Underwriting Board of Chaucer Syndicates Limited as Divisional Director for Marine and Aviation Claims and is now Head of Marine and Aviation Claims. Tony is a member of the LMA Energy Claims Group, the Joint Marine Claims Committee and is the claims representative on the Joint Rig and Associated Business Committee.
