Chaucer Syndicates Limited (Chaucer), the specialist Lloyd’s insurance group, today announces several leadership promotions, reflecting further advancement of strong leaders throughout the Company.

Bruce Bartell named Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Chaucer, where he will work closely with the CEO on key aspects of Chaucer’s business management and strategy. “The availability of his counsel to the senior team will be of immense value,” said Johan Slabbert.
John Fowle promoted to Chief Underwriting Officer. John has made an enormous impact on Chaucer in his leadership of Syndicate 1084, and he will provide clear direction of our underwriting strategy in his new role. John will also continue as Active Underwriter of Chaucer Syndicate 1084.
David Bendle assumes the position of Chief Operating Officer, in recognition of his excellent contribution to the development of Chaucer’s strong operations capabilities over the last decade, while David Mead shifts his focus to priority strategic projects with a goal of further strengthening our business. "I really appreciate everything that David Mead does for our business. He has been a major contributor to the improvement of our core operating capabilities, and I look forward to working with him in 2016," commented Johan Slabbert.
John Fowle and David Bendle both joined the Board of Chaucer Syndicates Limited on 1 January 2016.
Penny Shaw promoted to Chief Risk Officer of Chaucer in recognition of her important contribution since she joined the company in 2014, and our continued commitment to risk management excellence in the ever increasingly complex insurance risk and regulatory environment.
Tony Gates promoted to Head of Claims of Chaucer, with responsibility for the strategic development of claims, with a focus on first class customer service for clients and reinsurers.
