Chaucer writes a range of US and international casualty business on a direct, facultative and delegated authority basis. Our specialist lines team is one of Chaucer's largest, and a recognised leader in the market. Our capabilities span multiple lines, each utilising our expertise and first class service.
Our core offering includes international general liability and professional indemnity, financial risks and North American professional lines, as well as newer product lines we have introduced in response to changing markets conditions and emergent risks.
Our Institutional Healthcare Team provides an important lead market in London for medical malpractice liability to protect healthcare institutions and practitioners. Our Accident & Health Team write death, disability, medical and ancillary benefit products for groups and individuals, including schemes and affinity groups. We also offer Marine PI & Transport logistics expertise to protect companies and professionals against legal liabilities arising from their business.
In 2017 we added Australian underwriting agencies and Lloyd’s coverholders SLE Worldwide and Pacific Underwriting to our business portfolio. Based in Sydney, they write a broad range of specialty property and casualty products, with a focus on the sports, leisure and entertainment markets. SLE provides us with additional underwriting expertise, new product capabilities and greater access to the Australian market. Our in-house claims teams work alongside our underwriters to deliver a complete casualty service, to support brokers and clients across a broad range of risk.
Mark joined Chaucer in 2010 and runs the Casualty Division which writes worldwide specialty casualty business. Mark has over 30 years of market experience, having previously worked at Argo Global, where he was joint active underwriter of Syndicate 1200, and at Amlin for 10 years.
Paul Restarick joined the Casualty Practice in 2018 as the Casualty Manager. Having previously worked at Beazley, Markel and Aon, Paul has been with Chaucer for the past 7 years and was the Head of Underwriting Risk Management before moving across into the Casualty team. With over 20 years of insurance experience, including roles working closely with many underwriting teams, executive management and Actuarial & Finance, Paul is now responsible for supporting Mark Lawrence with the portfolio management of the division, business planning, strategy and general management of the team.
